AMF & Greenwich Report on Operational Performance Study

The Benchmarking Committee recently completed a special study in conjunction with Greenwich Associates. The primary objective of this study, as outlined by The Asset Managers Forum, was to identify possible "best practices" and to provide feedback to the broker/dealer community on operational issues within the fixed income markets. David Skrodanes of General Motors Asset Management and Jenn Sneath of Greenwich will offer an overview of the study results.

In order to help manage relationships with broker/dealers, asset managers in the U.S. are beginning to utilize Service Level Standards, which are agreements that outline broker/dealers' responsibilities to their clients, and likewise, asset managers' responsibilities to broker/dealers. These agreements, which are now common in Europe, are becoming more commonly used in the U.S. Jean Ebbott will moderate a panel that discusses these agreements and alternative ways to managing business relationships.

AMF Swaps Committee Meeting

On July 26, the AMF promulgated its Swaps Best Practices White Paper for public comment at a conference of nearly 200 attendees. As the official comment period nears its close on October 1, 2005, the AMF Swaps Committee will discuss general comment themes and also how the Committee can further work with dealers, CIOs and the Governance Group on implementing the best practice recommendations.

On the day succeeding the AMF Quarterly Business Meeting, September 22, the AMF will host a Workshop on Corporate Actions. As a preview to the Workshop, the Corporate Actions Committee will provide members with an overview of the committee's goals toward enhancing the current corporate actions workflow during this breakout session.

In moving toward the development of best practices, the AMF STP Committee has created an Allocations Subcommittee to identify best practices for the allocations process in order to gain efficiencies and reduce risks. The subcommittee has worked with custodians and clearing agencies and banks on how allocations relate to settlements. During this breakout session, the STP Committee will receive an update by the Allocations Subcommittee on its draft recommendations.
AMF Bank Loans Working Group
As a follow-up to the May 16 AMF Bank Loan Workshop, the AMF has formed a Working Group to address the operations and technology issues that relate to bank loans. During this breakout session, the Working Group will review the issues along with continuing with its collective discussions already begun with the LSTA.
